Timberland had a dilemma concerning their music for their collaborative campaign with the NBA. Our agency partner Pereira & O’Dell had a BTS video for a print shoot, yet Timberland didn’t want to use their current track, they felt like it was a little too old school rap and was in need something a bit softer.
So we took on the challenge to create something that helped tell the story of their BTS video.
The strategy of our approach was “Gritty yet Soft” We wanted to craft a piece of music that spoke to the grit of the video, but yet still wanted to include soft elements. By adding in synths, we managed to achieve the tying of the two concepts together. Notice the timing of the score, as we matched certain downbeats to the the cuts within the video for added impact.
